By Faith - Romans 4:1-8

What would you place on your spiritual résumé? Most of us are tempted to point toward our morality, church attendance, biblical knowledge, or service as reasons God should accept us. But in Romans 4, Paul examines the record of Abraham, one of the most respected men in Israel’s history, and declares that even Abraham had nothing to boast about before God. Using Abraham and David as witnesses, Paul demonstrates that salvation has always been God’s gracious gift. Righteousness cannot be earned; it must be credited. Sin cannot be hidden; it must be covered. Both are possible only through faith in Jesus Christ.
