Sermon-Based Small Groups
Small Groups are groups of 8 - 16 adults that allow us time to fellowship, pray, and discuss the worship sermon message. We also have opportunities in our small groups to minister to one another to meet spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. In short, it is where we do life together.

The book of James teaches the timeless truth that Christians must put their faith into action. Knowing God's Word is not enough. We must apply that knowledge to our everyday life, not only in thought but in deed. This twelve-week study written by Dr. David Jeremiah challenges us to WALK IT, DON'T JUST TALK IT. Join us as we dig into this rich and encouraging study.

Meeting upstairs in room 214
Duration: TBD - begins January 5th
Materials Needed: book: Paul - A Man of Grace and Grit by Charles R. Swindoll (see Clayton for books), Bible
Intended audience: Men of all ages
The apostle Paul was, in his own words, "the chief of all sinners." Yet, this colossal figure left an indelible signature of greatness. Join well known pastor and author Chuck Swindoll in Great Lives: Paul as he examines the influence and impact of this remarkable man. Tough, tenacious, and fiercely determined, Paul pursued his divine mission with unflinching resolve, and God used him mightily to turn the world upside down for Christ. Perhaps that's why Paul's life is such a source of hope for us. If the chief of sinners can be forgiven and become God's chosen vessel, can't He forgive and use us as well? Drawing largely from the Acts of the Apostles, Swindoll paints a vivid picture of Paul's incredible life and legacy, tracing the story of how God reached down to Paul in all his self-righteous zeal and crushed his pride, softened his heart, and transformed this once-violent aggressor into an influential spokesman for Christ.
We'll read a portion of Paul - A Man of Grace and Grit each week, and discuss as a group. Stop by Room 214 any Sunday at 9am to spend time with us - - - or commit to the whole study! We'd love to welcome you (we're a welcoming group)! And tell a friend about us! (No need to purchase the book - - - I've got books on order. If you let me know you'll be joining us, I'll do my best to have the required number on hand for the January 5 launch!)

Many different groups claim to be Christian, yet have differing beliefs from each other. Can we simply accept the statement "I am a Christian", or are the underlying beliefs too different? Are any of their beliefs compatible with ours? When it comes to the Gospel, Are We Together?
In this course, we'll learn the beliefs of different groups that call themselves Christian, and evaluate their beliefs to determine whether or not we are together on issues of the Gospel, the Trinity, the Church, Scripture, daily living, and more. In each session, we'll study a group and ask: what is it, where did it come from, what are the core beliefs, what's wrong with it, and how do we talk to people about it? We'll cover Hebrew Roots, Jehovah's Witnesses, Latter-Day Saints/Mormonism, Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, New Apostolic Reformation, and Progressive Christianity (in that order), with references to many more groups.

Many consider Galatians to be the clearest expression of the Gospel in the New Testament. Martin Luther said it was his favorite book of the Bible. The theme is justification by faith through Jesus Christ. Paul argues that salvation is a gift received through faith in Jesus, not through adherence to religious laws or rituals. This theme emphasizes grace, freedom, and the unity of believers in Christ. If you wish to explore this wonderful book, please join us for a verse-by-verse study of Galatians.
