Family/Spiritual
Background:
I grew up in a Christian home in northern
Lancaster Country, PA. My
Dad’s side of the family has a long line of Christian
heritage that I am very thankful for, and it was that
Christian influence that ultimately led me to give my life to
Christ as a young boy. It
was in the wide open spaces of
Lancaster
County
and the foothills of the
Appalachian Mountains
where my love for the outdoors grew as I progressed towards
becoming an Eagle Boy Scout.
My love for God began to flourish in the
summer before my senior year of high school where I committed
my life to God and dedicated my life to full-time Christian
ministry as a vocation. After
high school, I headed off for ministry training at
Lancaster
Bible
College
. It was here
where I met my wife-to-be, Sarah, and we married in the summer
of 2000.
Chester,
New Hampshire
was Sarah’s hometown, and after spending a couple weeks in
NH on vacations before and after we were married, I fell in
love with the state as well: endless trails to be hiked and
lakes/rivers to be paddled!
Little did we expect at that time that it was in
God’s sovereign plan for Sarah to come back and teach at the
same school she graduated from (Calvary Christian School), and
for me to become an Associate Pastor here at CBC, her home
church. And little
did I know that I would be serving under a man (Pastor John
Talley) who I knew when I was a child, for my home church in
Ephrata
,
PA
was the same church that sent the Talley family out onto the
mission field. It
has been fun to watch God fit all these pieces of my life
together!
Ministry Passion
My passion is
the same as the Apostle John's as he writes in 3 John 4,
"I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children
walking in the truth." John was not referring to his
biological children, but his spiritual children; those he had
nurtured spiritually in the faith. In the same way, even
though the teenagers that I minister to here at Calvary Bible
Church are not my own, I have no greater joy than seeing those
teens under my spiritual care walking in truth: increasing in
their knowledge of God's Word and applying it to their lives
more and more consistently everyday.
